Default ASUS P4v800-x Mobo won't power on

Hi,
My desktop uses an ASUS P4V800-X mobo with 512 mb ram and the onboard nvidia fx5200 video card. It has been working perfectly fine for the past 2 years but yesterday, I decided to add another 512 stick of ram in and when I tried to turn it on, my lcd had a "no signal connection" sign and after a while, my computer shut down by itself and when I tried to turn it on again, it wouldn't. There is a green light on the mobo when the power cord is plugged in, and there is no beeping, or anything, to indicate whats wrong with the computer. At first, I suspected the problem lied with the powersupply, but I switched ps's with another computer and both the ps's work in the other computer and the other computer's ps did not work in my comp. I even checked to make sure that the reboot and power on switch are correctly connected (which they are). I have a slight feeling that my problem is due to a stupid mistake, such is accidentally knocking a connection out of place or something. My main problem is, I have no idea where to begin checking for the problem, and any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Brydhadayre,

Welcome to PCHF,

The problem might possibly be with the new memory module you installed, check that all the modules are seated correctly ( WITH THE MAINS TURNED OFF).
Then try the memory module in your pc one at a time, there is a possibilty that the new module may be faulty.

Let us know how you get on

As rader said check the ram is seated correctly and try one at a time if they're matching and its a dual channel set up make sure they're in the rights slots.

Also reseat the graphics card.

Hi, I somehow managed to get my computer to power-on again, although I don't know exactly what I did. However, I ran into another problem, my monitor has a no signal input sign. I've also tried connecting it to 2 other known working monitors, a new video card, new power supply, and still, all the monitors show a no signal input sign. There are no beeps to indicate what the problem can be, the fans on the cpu and the gpu are both working, the external dvd drive works. I re-seated the ram, vid card, cleared the CLRTC. The only thing I haven't done is re-seat the cpu and try a new mobo. Currently, I don't have the resources to get another mobo and I have no clue how to re-seat a cpu. I've included a link to the user guide for my mobo (the p4v800-x). Hope that will help with any suggestions.

Could you try the VGA card in another PC, that would rule out the card being at fault.

Default no signal

It sounds like your either your video card or cable is loose or not plugged in all of the way.

Radar, I followed your suggestion and tried it in two other computers. Both those computers work fine. Would it be possible to have just the agp slot be somehow broken?
