Default r600 and amd quad core

ok this has been doin my head in for a while.
intel have the qx6700 quad core and nvidia have the monster 8800gtx 768mb which can be sli'd.
mouthwatering.
have seen some great systems using the asus striker extreme motherboard, (very sexy)

but............

i know if i go for one the day after i buy it and while waiting for delivery amd are gonna go quad core on me and ati/amd's new direct x10 gpu's are gonna come out and kick ****.

am using amd fx60 socket 939 at present
2x 1950 512mb in crossfire
a8r32 mvp deluxe
1kw galaxy psu
2x 1gb balistix ddr

am hearing a few whispers on the net about am2+ mobo's and higher speed etc. anyone know if they're gonna be better than intel boards?
and also i get the impression with amd quad core that all 4 core's will work together to some amount rather than seperately as with intel...is this a right assumption? if so a game will be able to use shared resources between all 4 cores?

also is the ddr 2 a vast improvement with performance in games?

please help am a bit mind fuddled from reading various posts on net. am a bit of a newby at pc building.

just for once wanna build the ultimate pc and it being good for 6 months

AMD's quad core is better then Intels'...you are correct in the way it works.

In regards to games sharing the cores - it all depends if the game was written for that many cores - Supreme Commander does...the only one i know of for quad core support at the moment
DDR2 is always going to be better - it's faster.

I build my PC around 2 years ago now, and it's still "good"...just not "great" anymore

the r600 is still an ATI card...they were finishing it as the last card, so there's nothing AMD about it - except the name (as far as i understand it)...and it's kicking the **** out of the 8800's in previews that i've seen...comes out very soon
