I have a Gateway ATXSTF OXN Select 1100. The problem I am having is this. Every time I boot the machine the HD will boot to the welcome screen and then stop. You can still hear the HD whiring but nothing else. I have tried 6 different HD's in the same machine with the same problem. I have tested each HD in another computer and all work fine with no problems. My question is could I have a bad Motherboard or HD controler? (the HD controler is built on the board) I have tried replacing cables, resetting the CMOS, removing and reinserting RAM all connections are tight. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

no nothing else happens at all

hmm... try booting in safe mode, after POST, press f8 until the boot screen comes up.
