Angry DFI Mobo - Windows wont work

Hi all, my name is brad
Recently i have bought a DFI lanparty ut nf4 sli-dr expert mother board and a nvidia 8800 gtx graphics card. Upon installing my old processor, AMD athlon 64 x2 4400+ dual core, my 2gb of generic ram, my wester digital 80 gb hard drive (system drive) and my 160gb seagate drive, both IDE drives.

I booted the system and it ran through the bois stuff all fine, but when it got to loading windows, it froze at a blank screen. I then restarted the system several times, getting teh same problem each time, until, it finally showed a message;
"windows\system32\config\system missing or corrupted. Please insert the windows xp installation cd an use the recovery tools to attempt to fix this problem"
This was not the exact message, but i cannot get the machine to show the message agian so i cant fully remember it.

I then inserted the windows xp cd into my drive and booted from the cd, it did so, asked me if i wanted to install any 3rd party RAID or scsi drivers, and then it ran through a whole list of drivers along the white bar on the bottom of the screen and then it said; "starting windows" and it just stops there, i tried a friends copy of the install cd and it did the same thing.

After this i transfered everything back to my old GA-K8NSUltra motherboard (processor, ram, hdd) using my 6600 because my old mobo doesnt have a pci express slot. I booted the system and low and behold! it worked.

I then inserted a new hard drive, completely blank, and installed xp onto this drive, i transfered all my stuff bak onto the new mobo, minus my onld hdd and attempted to boot from the fresh installation, it did the same thing, even when i attempted to use the xp cd.

My dad then took the new drive, put everything back onto my old mobo, and installed windows 98 fresh onto it and did a whole load of stuff, i think he set some boot sectors or something like that, we tried this, and it didnt work either.

At this point, i am thinking it is a problem with the IDE controllers on the mobo, so i went to my laptop and found the IDE drivers on the CD that came with the mobo, transferred them onto a floppy and attempted to use the windows installation to instal them (through the raid/scsi installer) but when i attempted to boot from the CD it just says that there is an invalid line in a file on the installation cd an setup cannot continue, i had a look at the file on another computer and it looked fine, i looked at the file on another xp cd, it was exactly the same.

At this point, i am completely lost and distraught because i have spent 1400 odd dollars on this new system and i cant get it to work, can someone please help me?
