Welcome to PCHF lilkitty!

Have you tried another monitor - just to check?

oh boy. this sounds familiar. Is it an MSI board? If so, i would say that you are probably not in hopes of fixing it. I had this exact problem the MSI KT400V Board, as have several people i know. BUT, the good folks here will do everything they can to help. I would suggesting to try clearing CMOS and then try again.

as above really, unless the monitor is faulty, or the graphics card (unless its on board)

He has tried another monitor, same thing. how do u clear the CMOS and where is it (sorry trying to learn this stuff as i go also)
He had the motherboard tested and processor and it works fine.

The graphics card is Nvidia Gforce and the hard drive is from the last computer.
He has a new op he wants to use but the monitor wont turn on. (sigh)
