Default [Resolved] Mother board acts like its not geting power?

Ok now that iv finished my new pc, i gave my old one to my sister. So i took out my dvd/cd burner for my new pc, and put in a cd burner for her in my old computer.

When i go to turn it on the cd burner and hard drive come on but the mother board and CPU fan dont seem to be geting power, for the CPU fan dosent spin nither dose the monitor recive a singnal. But the procesor must be geting power becuas it becomes really hot after a while.

So i have no clue of why this might be hapaning, it worked just a few minuts befor. Vary flustrating.

Hey Justin,

How's it goin? Just to be sure I understand what you are talking about. On the new PC you took out the DVD player, and you installed a CD burner onto your old PC for your sister?

I think I'm missing something. Also, when you had the box open, is it possible that you accidentally knocked something loose?

Check all of the cables and make sure that they are solid. You may want to unplug and replug everything. Considering that everything was working fine, it seems more likely that something came undone.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Ya, I checked all the conections and still nothing. So i had the thought of switching power supplys and then it started working agin, but that supply was only 75 Wat's so i put the old one back in and it worked so. I dont know ther might have been somthing in one of the plugs since part of the board still worked. But all is good now becuas it is fixed.

Better to be lucky than good I always say. LOL.

Still, it would be a good idea to keep an eye on your temps and your power supply, just in case.

Glad to hear it is back up and running. Look forward to seeing you in the forums.

Ya-no , as crazy as 'puters are,, there's what is called a cell battery and i'm not at all saying that, that may be the problem ,but for as cheap as they are 4 to 5 $,it may not hurt to put one in..yet again, i'm not saying that this is what is causing your troubles....
however, why fix what's not broken, take it from me!!!!!!!!!!!!
