Default Motherboard wont POST

Have an M2R32-MVP mobo, when I turn the power on , the fans go on , but there is no signal on the screen. My x1900 GT has a red glowing light near it's power connection. There are no beeps or anything , just a blank screen. I took the computer apart, checked the grounding screws and plastic mounts , and put it back in. I also tried running the mobo on the anti static bag it came in , on a piece of cardboard. Nothing. Anyone know how I can fix this? Do I have to buy a new motherboard? Im hoping it didnt short circuit or something.

Hello Night,

No beeps normally indicates a CPU or a major fault on board. Try to reseat your CPU and also make sure the 4 pin molex connector from the power supply is connected. Also try with all cards unplugged to see if you get any beeps?

Nothing. Just the fans whirring and the red light by the x1900 power connection on. Still wont post. I tried without the video card and went by the keyboard flash. If it posts, it will flash the num , caps , and scroll lock lights twice. Nope, only once.

I have not tried reseating the cpu , so I will try that today. It doesnt look like the motherboard is in workable condition anymore, considering that the night before, it would crash in the bios. I was able to reformat the hard drive that night, but it was only able to get partway through installing windows before it crashed.

That confirms CPU to me NightJ. No beeps, crashing in BIOS and now won't even come on?

IT POSTED ! WOOOOOT !

*gives mad monkey the skeleton key to DK's bannana hoard*

I reseated the cpu , also , I disconnected the case speaker from the motherboard. Upon closer examination , I noticed that there was a grounding screw that was nowhere near a hole , and was touching the back of the motherboard.

I have removed the screw, disconnected the case speaker , and have reseated the cpu. I will now hook up my hard drive and see if I can continue with the windows installation. If it is successful, then hopefully my next post will be from my computer rather than my wife's computer.

This is definitely something to remember though, throw this in a sticky somewhere.

"Do not plug case speakers into motherboard, especially on cases made in 1995 and older."
