[Resolved]URGENT! Wont boot into windows!
YEah, i got a new-er motherboard and stuff. Its an ECS K7S5A. An AMD Athlon XP +1500, and 1gig of RAM. The problem is, whne i boot it up, it POSTS fine, then goes to a "windows did not start correctly" screen, i click "start windows normally" the screeen goes black for a sec, and it POSTs again. no hard drives shutting down, no error, just stops. Then, i try safe mode, it stops loading and reboots at WINDOWS\System32\giveio.sys every time. I cant figure it out and i need to get it working! Also, when i try to boot to an MS-DOS disk, it comes up with a little thing that says HIMEM.sys - Cannot control adress line A20. Please help! Its the same HDD i was using with my ocmputer before, so windows is still on it!

most likely you will need to reinstall windows from your install disk; anytime you change something major like a motherboard, windows doesn't like it due to licensing issues, and sorta doesn't want to work anymore.

yeah, nightj, I actually had to go back to your thread an verify that, for reasons known only to you and God, hadn't changed your profile name and reposted......two very, very similar issues posted at the same time.....if I recall, correcty, NightJ, you ended up calling MS, right?

well, let's not clutter up this thread....lady green witch or wolfeymole can move your thread should you need it, but stick with what they are helping you with for now....they both are very knowledgeable and should be able to get you through this....note what lady green witch said about the licensing issues; that is most likely giong to be a problem in both instances, I should think.

ill try to flash the BIOS to the latest version, the HDD has all the Drivers i need. or it should at any rate, it did before i changed the mobo. Dad wont be too happy if i have to reinstall windows, because he will probably have to reactivate it through the phone again. The strange thing is, when i changed hte processor before, with my Tyan board, all it did was windows told me i needed to reactivate it in 3 days because it detected a a severe change in hardware, but at elast it booted up into windows completely. However, the strange thing is, is that before, i used the DVI connector to the monitor, but now i have use D-SUB. DVI wont work now. I hope i can get it working, because i tore my tyan board out and i dont want ot ahve to setit back up again.
