IMO, I don't think flashing the bios will accomplish anything; it's not the BIOS that is the problem; it's the windows install that is on the HD that is the problem. Here is what has been said in other threads regarding windows:

Windows licensing is now identifying the computer specific to the original installation, if you change the PC they don't recognize it.
That was from Lady Green Witch, and she went on to state, that at least for that particular user, they would need to purchase a new OS. This case may very well be different, but I still think that you are going to need to call windows on this.

You either need to do a complete reinstall(and you may have to contact MS for a new key) or purchase a new OS as both valis and LadyGreenWitch stated. If you only changed a vid or sound card it would allow the change but not with a new motherboard.

it is an old version of windows. the disc is SP1. i used windows update to get SP2, but i have done this before, when my MSI board died. If i have to reinstal windows again, if it will get it working, im fine with that. but i have looked, and lots of people had the same problem i did, maybe just a little different. i think the HIMEM.sys "cannot control adress line A20" has something to do with it. I know Gate A20 is important.... but i dont know how to fix it....

i finally got it working. unfortunately i had to format and reinstall Windows. Also, I had to use the copy of windows XP that is on our laptop becuase the other one got destroyed (thanks to a certain little sister >_> ) But i am really happy with it. It boots MUCh faster than my old one did, and this mainboard supports UDMA for all IDE drives, so installaion of games goes much faster. I mean, FS2004 oon my PIO mode Drives on my old computer (HDD were DMA Mode 3) took an hour to install, undear fulll CPU usage, now installs in 15mins under little to no CPU usage. Very happy with the performance so far. Whoooo!

Hey guys.
Valis is correct on this. When you install window hardware signatures for all your components are written to the hd.(motherboard info/chipset drivers/cpu/video adapter...ect) When you change motherboards, or put your hd in a different computer, the signatures dont match, and windows normally wont work. If the hardware changes arent significant(maybe just changing one component like javaman said), you may get by with it. Microsoft does this to help cut down on what they consider to be piracy. Marked as resolved.
