Hey Fubsy,

Welcome to PCHF! (: (: (:

Yea, I like to think that what I do (saying welcome) is important, because I really dont have the knowledge to help anybody with anything. Hah sorry for not helping at this moment, but one of the more...how should I put it, technologically competent staff members will get right on it. (: Hope they can help! (:

and welcome once again!

Hehe thanks for the welcome rayboto, as an update to my problem it would seem its my wireless network device thats causing the slow boot as if i unplug it before i boot it boots normaly, however i do need the wireless usb device to connect to the net could it be an irq problem for example a conflict with my usb mouse?

The wireless device is a Belkin F5D6050

Hey Guys,

@Fusby - My welcome to PCHF as well. My apologies for our staff not getting to this thread sooner.

Can you please answer a few questions? Is the wireless router new?

Have you tried uninstalling the soundcard, and leaving the wireless router in place?

Have you checked in your Device Manger to see if there are any conflicts?

I will PM the Networking Gurus and get them to take a look at this.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi ladygreenwitch sorry i havnt replied sooner havnt been well amongst other things Anyway to answer ur questions ive had the wireless router for quite sometime but ive only recently started using it on a regular basis, i have tryed with and without the sound card but the problem still persists, im begining to think its simply a problem with the wireless unit itself, sometimes i turn the pc on and its totaly fine then the next time i turn it on it can take upto 10 - 15 mins to turn on.

However if i unplug the wireless usb adapter it boots as it should constantly so that would surgest its just a problem with the router itself or a problem with my usb ports, one more thing to add is that when i remove the wireless ssid that i normaly connect to before i turn off the pc it loads up fine, so perhaps windows is trying to login to the wireless point as windows loads?

I think my best option is to buy another wirless device any surgestions?

Hey Fusby,

Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well, I hope you are all better.

I'm interested to know if there are any errors showing in your Device Manager that would suggest a conflict. Could you please check on that?

Also, before you go out and purchase another wireless router, let's make sure it's the router that is the problem. You mention that you have had the wirelss for some time, did it at one time behave correctly?

I'd like to bring in one of our Tech Staff who is wicked sharp with Networking issues to look at your problem and see what he thinks. He's in your neck of the woods, so he should also be around during times that you are on. I'm going to PM him, so if in the mean time you could have a look at your Device Manager and post back that would be wonderful.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi ladygreenwitch :>

Ive had alook and there dosnt seem to be any conflicts in the device manager that i can see as for it working correctly it worked fine before but then it was in use on a different pc although it was pretty much the same setup same motherboard Asus a7n8x but i was using onboard sound and a different gfx card etc.

Im going to reinstall windows sometime next week and change my sound card back so i shall let u know if the problem persists afterwards.

Thanks for ur time
Fubsy
