Here is a diagram of the Motherboard I'm considering to buy:

I want to know if that little IDE/PATA connector at the bottom means I will be able to connect a PATA HDD to the motherboard. I have a 250GB HDD, and I don't want it to go to waste. If it will work, I'll need to buy only SATA DVD/floppy drives, right?

Hey Rodents210,

Welcome to PCHF.

Nice Board!

Yep, you'll be able to connect up to two HDD/CD-ROM's to the IDE connector. You have another connector for you floppy drive on the bottom right. All the rest you'll need SATA.

Hi! Thanks for the welcome! I guess I'm good with buying the Motherboard then! I'll probably be making another board down the line when I get towards building it, because there are a few things I don't know exactly how to connect, as I'm a first-time builder (I know how do do most of it from my experience with upgrading a couple PCs, though).

Sorry, I don't know how to add the "[Fixed]" to the thread title.

Oh yep, ASUS are my personal favourite motherboards, good quality boards. It's easy enough if you haven't already upgraded you already know where everything is, and if you get stuck or have any questions, you know where to come!

Okay. I'm going to buy that and a new case sometime soon...

I don't think it's against the rules to post links to other threads, but since this area seems really active, would somebody mind answering my other thread in "Hard Drives"?
