Hello justin,

Welcome to PCHF.

Can you confirm the model number of that motherboard?

It sounds like it's looking for a specific HDD that was previously setup on the motherboard. Have you been into BIOS to detect your new HDD?

PATA would be your IDE. Are you using IDE or SATA? Make sure they are all set to Auto. Also, if your using IDE, make sure your using the correct IDE cable, as there are both 40 and 80 pin IDE cables.

In BIOS, for all four IDE channels you have the option to set these channels to Auto. If you can't find these, give me the version of BIOS your using (listed at the top of your BIOS screen), it will help me to talk you through it more clearly. There are many different versions of BIOS.
