Question [Resolved] Win Xp Fails To Load After New Build

hi all,
i need ur guidance on the following,being a noob at building pc's ie this is my second build.
i've installed a gigabyte m55plus-s3g skt am2 mobo with an amd 64 3500 cpu with 1gb ddr533 ddr2 memory,maxtor 120gb hdd,pioneer dvd/cd rw & a generic fdd. all connected and appears to be in order.upon installing win xp home edition sp2 about half way through i get the message the software you are installing for this hardware has not not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with win xp.it lists everything on the mobo from battery,generic volume,printer port,primary & secondary ide,hdd & fdd are but a few,i just clicked instal for all & everything was fine right up until the last 5 minutes of installation when the instal aborts and ends, i clicked on the window for errors and it basically listed everything on the mobo as before and said it couldn't revert to ms drivers???????
any ideas...........

Hey Morty,

Welcome to PCHF, we have a wonderful team of techs here, and I am sure that we can help you sort this out.

First of all, I just need to make sure that the copy of XP that you are installing is a legal copy, to rule that out as a culprit first.

Second, assuming that you are indeed using a legal copy, make sure that the CD is free from scratches and dirt, try using FDISK to wipe out all of the partitions, then reformat and try the install again. If you get the same results, run ChKDSK and make sure that the HDD is not damaged, (I know it's new, but it's not unheard of). Sometimes the old ways are the best, .

Also, you may want to reflash your BIOS, although that one is a longshot.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Question

Hi LGW,
things have somewhat progressed,i've managed to instal win xp but a few dll files didn't load aswell as a heap of drivers even though i used the driver cd for the mobo.i had to instal a network card to access the net as ones on mobo aren't working.i logged onto MS download site and couldn't download updates as i was told my pc is set to wrong time,i tried the MS fixes suggested by MS, 2 i could do although nothing changed and the 3 the dll files wouldn't open,any ideas???, the plot thickens(i new i should have stuck to intel)................
thanx 4 ur help..

To fix the time is not correct issue go to
Start/Control Panel/switch to "classic view"/date and time (double click) opens date and time properties/make sure automatically synch is checked. Thry the "update now" button. If nothing changes-- in the server window-- click the small arrow -switch to the other listed server. Try update now again.

let us know what happens
