Post sata connector for mobo / i-ram

hi guys : i was thinking of geting this I-RAM card : link below

GIGABYTE - Product - PC Peripherals - Storage - Products

but my motherboard does not have a sata connector on it so i was looking in to this : link > IDE to SATA Hard Drive Motherboard Adapter Bridge

and i was hopeing that it would work just asif my motherboard had one on board
or would ther be problems with geting it to work on a none sata borad

Hi John,

Welcome to PCHF.

Brilliant idea! I'm not sure this has even been tried before, but should work in theory.

However! One mightly problem with your plan. IDE doesn't support the fast data transfer that SATA supports. With this setup, you will only be able to transfer data at 150mb/s if you motherboard will support this, instead of 1536mb/s. Massive difference in speed there.

thanks for your reply monkey i didnt think it would of been such low speeds but il gave it a try
anyways - the worst that can happen is that im out a bit of money but if it works then il have a big
cheesy grin on me lol once i get my hands on the gear il get back on here and post it up
