I think I know what you mean. When you insert the power cables, the fans spins for <1 sec. I believe yours has a green LED light on the front of the PC, that shows if the PC is actually on. When you plug your power cable in (without the switch connected), does the LED come on?

There is no LED on the from of the case - the whole of the 'light panel' has to be disconnected with the switch.

There is however a green LED on the motherboard itself which does come on when the power lead is connected

Of course. Yep the LED on the motherboard is fine, with the Dell's, it just means the the mb is receiving power. I do think we have found the cause to your problems though.

The good news is that your system still has 90 days warranty left, which means that you could call in a fault and they will replace the faulty switch within a few days. Their support is really good. Tell them the troubleshooting you have already done. You can contact them on 0870 908 0800 between 8am - 8pm, Mon-Fri, have your asset tag ready.

Thanks for the follow up.

I am going to ring Dell today or tommorrow to get it fixed. Wanted to get Christmas out of the way!

Thanks to everyone on the forum who helped out. Have a great new year.
