Default USB problem...

ok there is a few problems happening with my main pc atm. From what i can make out the USB ports are no longer working.

I installed a PCI USB 2.0 adapter turned on the PC. The boot up screen was only half the size on the monitor i.e the top of the screen was the middle of the screen... This continued during the windows loading screen however upon successful load of windows it went to full screen not a problem.

So im on my windows login screen, keyboard/mouse dont work.. i try unplugging them from the card and into the mobo like before.. still wont work. i then unplug the **** card go back to how it was... still no joy..

I reinstall the card, and connect the usb items to the board. still the same. I restart and i try them connected to the card,.. stil the time.. then i do nothing but turn my pc off for 1min while i go get a drink, come back up turn the computer on and everythign works fine, card and board, however i did noting to solve hte problem.. why did it not work and then work???

btw. the boot up screen is still only half screen. but still works fine when in windows.

That is strange. it may be that it 'finished' installing the drivers whilst you were away.

hmm i seams the problem is not over. although the card is working now with a 4 port hub, keyboard (with a mouse pluged into Keyboard) plugged into the device. As soon as i have my sound card (external, creative extigy) connected it does work for one moment, but as soon as i try using teamspeak, for anything, (which involves sound) all USB devices die, my keyboard illumination goes off and stops working no keys can be pressed mouse wont lights up and hub acts as if the comptuer is turned off.

any ideas why this would be?

Curver, USB only provides a limited amount of power, you probably don't have enough for all your devices running off your usb hub, and I really can't see you having enough power to share all that with a creative sound device!

the soundcard has its own powersoucrce, as does the hub, and itsa pci card connected to a 600w PSU. I can doubt its a power problem.

Go to device manager, and see if your usb 1 is still enabled. The installation software for some usb 2 adapters disables it by default, some say it doesnt matter, and some tell you in the instructions to disable it. If its still enabled, disable it and see if that helps. You can just uninstall it to see, but when you reboot, windows will reinstall it.
