Default [Fixed] Checksum Error

I'm almost finished rescuing my son's PC from a MAJOR crash.

One problem left: When I power up from COLD, I must press F1 to boot and CMOS has reverted to defaults INCLUDING time. (That's the remaining aggravation.

If I power up while the PC is warm it starts normally and keeps the time (and any changes I have made to CMOS).

I have:
1. Changed the battery
2. Reset CMOS by changing jumpers to 2-3 and moving back to 1-2

What Now?

Thank you,
John

Hi John,

I'd suggest a BIOS flash might do the trick.
If it doesn't, then the CMOS chip itself may actually be damaged.

Thanks GarHar, I found pages 2-3-4 of an earlier post (same problem) tried ALL of the suggestions (short of Flash) and something worked.

Chalk up another PCHF success!!

John
