Default CMOS Preventing Boot & Activation Problem

Hey all, just got a weird problem my computer wont start without having its CMOS cleared on EVERY REBOOT! i cant make changes in the CMOS cause when i say save and exit it restarts and wont work again until i clear the cmos... anyone know of a possible solution?
also not related but my windows copy needs to be reactivated and i cant log into my accouint without first logging in, the problem is there is only a blank box... with no text or buttons at all..

Hi Souluna.

With your CMOS problem - best bet is to replace the battery...they're cheap (from memory).

In relation to your Windows activation problem...you should have no reason to reactivate windows - if this is coming up, call Microsoft and complain...

i tried replacing the battery, and that has had no effect.. it is still just giving the system beep.
EDIT* Tried a second battery and it has worked.... Thanks

it is giving a CMOS checksum error btw when i boot and actually get to see the bios boot screen..

Hrmmm...

Unplug the computer from the power outlet, push the power button about 10 times, plug it back in...try now.

It probably won't work, but it could be a bad fuse in the PSU...

Oh right.

There might be a problem with your BIOS or the actual CMOS chip itself.

Try flashing the BIOS, otherwise...you'll have to RA the board
