Default [Resolved] Abit AV8 Clear CMOS help

Hello everyone.

Ok as some of you may know ive had problems with my hdd (other forum).

Now i thourhg why is it stickign on "varifying dmi pool data..............."

Checked for bios updates there has been several, i took the most upto date. Made a dos start up disk and installed the new bois following the guidelines from abit. All went well it install and restarted my PC.

I was told by abits guide to clear the cmos data:

ABIT-Your Reliable Partner

It said unplug the pc via the power cord, which i did. Then change the jumpers for one min. Which i did then reset the jumper how it was which i did.

Turned on pc, harrar im past the old DMI error. Windows begins to load before the windows logo even shows..

BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! oh dear god no.

It states (not full version)

"The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliment. Please contact.... for an updated BIOS. If you are unable to obtain updated BIOS or the latest BIOS supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this press F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system willl not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - I will silently disable ACPI and allow you to ocntinue your installation."

Well, firstly.. im not installing windows.. its already installed...

I am using purly sata drives and have just updated the bios.

I restart the pc comes up with that "start in safe mode/start windows normally" screen i select any option still same error.

And no i havnt tried pressing f7 yet during boot process.
Little help?

ok from switchign my windows drive onto my sata card, and running the other two hard drives off the two sata ports and setting the sata card as primary boot device ive managed to get into windows..

Oddly enough the other two Sata drives are not being detected as if they are not pluged in... When they clearly are..

Allthoguh my new 250gb sata drive has never been tested. So i unpluged in, surly enough windows started without a charm. I think its a faulty sata cable...

*5min Later*

Ok changed data cable with one of my many backup cables. Windows started after a slugish startup.

Annother brillient idea, Run windows + the 250gb through the raid card and keep the 160 on the board.

*5min Later*

Windows starts up no problems.. 160GB drive shows up no problems. 250gb Drive.. not detected, i think maybe the drive is unformatted.. Format the drive using disk management.. All is well everything works.

Can close this thread.

Thanks
