hi can anyone help me im going out my mind?
ive just put an old motherboard into my son sons old computor and the trouble ive got is i have power to the hdd,cdrom but as soon as i connect the ribbons the hdd stop working and the cdrom draw doesnt open or close,but the fan on the processor still works.ive swapped around the ribbons from primary to secondary and vice verser can any give me a clue as to what im doing wrong if anything..thanx

Have you tried changing the jumpers on the HD and cd-rom? What operating system are you running on your son's pc? This way we can tell if you need to move the little black jumpers on the dries around.

hi thanx for your rapid reply,i have an old ten gig hard drive that has to be formatted first then i will be installing windows 2000

Try taking the IDE cables off the cd-rom for now. And see iof the HD is recognaized. Is the cd rom flashing when the power is turned on? Or just nothing

ive tried that but still the same and the cdrom does not flash at all
