Hi there,
I have a problem stemming from a bad BIOS flash that I hope someone can help me with. Please bear with my long winded explanation :-)
Motherboard is Chaintec Zenith 7NJS with Award BIOS. At the moment the following components fitted:
Athlon XP 2400 processor, 1 stick of 256mb PC2700
ram, AGP graphics card (ATI rage 128 Ultra 32mb), floppy disk drive, keyboard and monitor.
I've tried booting from a DOS boot floppy with Award flash utility and latest BIOS update. I altered autoexec.bat file in various combinations more or less as follows: af824g.exe 7NJS0813.bin /py /Sb /sn /cc /R. This brings up on the screen:
Award Bootblock BIOS v1.0
BIOS ROM Checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media
Drive is 1.44mb
Automatic Load AWDFLASH.EXE
Error AWDFLASH.EXE not found
Replace the disk and press enter.
I also tried renaming the flash utility file to awdflash.exe and put it in the autoexec.bat file, this gets the following screen up:
AwardBIOS Flash Utility V8.24G
Flash Type
File Name to program
Message: Source file not found.
I feel that I am getting somewhere but I cannot get the keyboard to work so that I can input anything. I have tried the keyboard on another computer and it works OK. It might be worth mentioning that the only key that does work is 'Enter'.
My next plan is to maybe buy a reprogrammed chip.
If anyone can come up with some help I would be extremely grateful, many thanks,
Rog
