Default [Resolved] Asus K8N-E - Slow booting

Hi all!
Got a strange problem with an ASUS K8N mainboard (not mine).
It has a 2800+ AMD Sempron processor, and 1 stick of 512MB RAM on it.
Graphics card is a GeForce FX5200, and harddisk Western Digital 80GB, 8MB cache.
It very very slow booting up. In first place it takes too much time to find all the IDE devices, but that's not the major problem. After it has found harddisk, and DVD station and DVD-RW, it's taking I guess more than a minute before the Windows logon screen comes up, and also before the Windows startupscreen appears, so it's not Windows.
Any ideas?
Bluefish

Well I fixed the problem, taking the jumper of the harddrive, as was mentioned somewhere on the internet.
I'm glad with that, but why is this jumper making a minute start-up difference?
Got the black screen with the small little hyphen in upperleft corner, and that took about 30 seconds, now it just starts with starting up XP.

Hey Bluefish,

Sometimes an improperly set jumper can cause that kind o behaviour. Did the drive require the jumper off to be set as slave (in case the CD based drive is master) and sometimes you can have two drives on an IDE cable set up a certain way but in the wrong spots on a cable.

I have an ASUS K8N... board and they seem to be kinda picky about these things, it almost seems random but with some clueless tinkering I get the problem solved.

Thanks DAR!
It was set as master with the jumper, but it's now without jumper on cable select and that seems to decrease start-up time with over 50%
