Have you rebooted a second time to see if it made a difference booting up after doing that?

It doesn't make a difference. Like I said in my first post, it doesn't matter how I boot it up (from CD, DOS Startup disk, Windows Safe mode, etc.) it still shuts itself down after 10 seconds unless I go into the BIOS on startup, reset the defaults, then save and exit. If I do that each time it starts up fine, If not it shuts down.

How could that be a registry or Windows startup problem??

Howdy dahillner,
Have you tried restting the CMOS? Taking the battery out for 30 seconds and putting it back in. I know its a pain on a laptop but could save you some headache. It seems your BIOS is not being held for some reason.

I thought of that, but it still keeps the correct time/date. Wouldn't I lose the time/date if the CMOS battery was bad? Or are these two things unrelated (maybe a different battery for CMOS and clock??).

I may just have to take it in to a shop...
