Default Finding a good, balanced motherboard.

I need some assistance finding a good, balanced motherboard.

I have no real idea which features to look for first or which "features" to not look for.

I'm looking for a mobo with Athlon 64 support, (preferably one that comes with the processor), and SLI seems like a good feature.

So far, I think this one looks pretty good:

But I might be wrong. Please point me towards the good motherboards.

(IE: What slots? How many? etc)

Thanks.

Howdy Jones,
What exactly are you going to be doing with the pc? gaming etc..

Here is a good board

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131535
then getting this cpu, (since the board comes with a video card..) yuou would be around the same price range

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103490

Edit: But in my opinion I would go with Socket 939 as it will support alot more of the newer cpu's. But there a little bit more money as well

Such as this board..

Gaming, probably. What advantages does that motherboard? It would appear that it's Bus Speed is rather slower than the other motherboards I've seen.

And I'm not going for a multi-thousand dollar super-pc. Just something not to expensive that'll be able to run games better-than-average.

Mind you, I'm probably not even going to buy until I can compare them to the Intel based Macintoshes.

Yikes, 619$.

I was looking at something more like this.

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...Tab=2&NoMapp=0

It's much cheaper, and it appears to have all the necessary features...

But am I looking at some really bad brand or something?

There not that bad of brands.
But MSI and ABIT and ASUS have some of the best boards out there. Also gigabyte has great boards. The reason for the price jump is the 2000mgz fsb. If you get a mobile 64 cpu those are great overclockers and a little cheaper

Actually that DFI board is a descent board. As long as it has serialt ATA headers. I see it has 4. And can hold 4 gigs of memory compard to the 2 your other board had..
