No the newer mobile 64's are the same speed as there desktop counterparts. People just like putting them in desktops because they were built to be very cool, so you can overclock them to a much higher fsb than a normal say clawhammer AMP 64

Ok, but would a motherboard designed for Athlon 64 support an Athlon 64 mobile?

the abit would be a better choice,
And yes a micro ATX mobo would fit an an ATX case.
