I have a new mobo and processor.I have tried to install windows 98 and it wont take.The hard drive is new and works in other system but wont even let windows install on this one.The motherboard is ASROCK 939Dual-SATA2 M1695 RT,The processor is athlon 3500+ venice.When I reformat the disk in fdisk mode it does fine but as soon as I get to the install it says invalid geninstall INFfile(0x192)I have tried everything.I tried 2 powersupplies and still bad.I even put the hdrive in a compaq to see if windows would take and it did.Im stumped.If anyone has any tips please share.

First of all why are you trying to install Windows 98 to this kind of killer pc?
As far as I can see I think your 98 install disc is corrupt...
Are you able to try another Windows 98 CD?
Note: I'm not sure if Windows 98 recognizes you hardware serial ata, 3500+ processor etc.

I have some copies of windows xp but I think they are backups and dont know if they will boot.I tried windows 98 disc on the same harddrive in another system and it worked great.It was a compaq sempron3000+.Everything installs smooth.Its not the disc.If I knew how to do a fresh install with one of these old xp backups I would but Im not to good when it comes to dos.

I'd always try to run Windows XP.
Anyway it could be a problem with your RAM what kind of RAM is there on that mainboard?

See if you can boot up off the Windows XP discs..

The memory works great in all my other systems.Its ultra 3200 and I just bought it.I try to use a boot with the xp disks but then I get into dos commands and Im not good with them.
