Default Gigabyte mob problem

:-( Have this mob & get it to run for about 3 minutes into Bios Setup but then it looses video & stops witha strange ticking noise from pc speaker. won't start again until I leave off for a while. Have tried to video cards, removed all other cards, cleared cmos but still does this.

Hello and welcome to PCHF

Could you disconnect your hard drive/cdrom e.t.c and try to boot it like that. (minimum connected)

Could you also check all your fans and make sure they are working, your system might be overheating.

Lastly could you post the make/model of your motherboard incase we need to do more research.

Did you connect everything to the system yourself e.g processor?

:-( Gigabyte Model:GA-7XKE haven't added anything. Tried to boot with A drive only w/Win98 S/U disk but with same results. Strange clicking from pc speaker & just sits with no video. Light on mb is on & fans are running. Number lock light on keyboard goes out.

Did you built this PC yourself?

Or has it been working for a long time and has only just started having these problems?

:-( I assembled it about 3-4 years ago for my son a college. It has worked fine until now.

Strange clicking from pc speaker
That normally means there is either a problem with your keyboard (e.g a key sticking) or a fault on your motherboard.

Could you try and disconnect your keyboard and see whether the problem still occurs. It will prompt you saying "no keyboard connected - press F1 to continue" but just leave it running and see whether you loose VGA
