Default [FIXED] ASUS A8V Deluxe

Here is my problem, I just bought an ASUS A8V Deluxe:
I have hooked everything up according to the manual, all the wires everwhere they should be. I have gone through and pushed everything in, making sure it was on all the way. But for some reason when I push the power button on the front of my case it does nothing. I know there is power because the little light on the motherboard is on and green.

I think it has something to do with the 20pin area, no idea though. I have tried re-doing the 20pin quite a few times with no success.

I have a AMD 64 3200, 2.0GHz for the processor. It seems to be on all the way and locked into position with the heat sink.

When I push the power on for the power supply, the fans and everything light up for a microsecond, and the light on the light on the motherboard turns on and stays on. I really have no idea what to do x_x

The wires that come from my case to the 20pin area are:
HDD LED, that I have put in for IDE_LED
MB SW that I have put in for the power switch (comes from the power button)
RESET SW that goes in for the reset switch
AUDIO that I put on the audio pins
and POWER LED + and POWER LED -

All these are in the spots that the manual says.

Any ideas?

Hi Jerry, welcome to PCHF.

It may be something really simple. On your motherboard, where you plugged in the Power LED, Speaker, Power switch etc...
Can you just switch the Power SW connector round so that it's connected the opposite way.

I have tried that a few times, and just did once more. It doesn't seem to have any affect.

Hmm..a strange one.

Have you checked for a motherboard short (metal on metal)? Also what is the wattage of your power supply unit ?

alright... I am getting closer. I checked all the screws and stuff holding down the mb. now it works but it says "System Failed due to CPU Overclocking", and the screen stays blank... x_x so close.

btw the power button still doesn't want to do anything.

Did you change any settings in youre bios? Try to select "default values" and see if that helps.

PS, was there shorting anything out when checking everything?
