The shorting out was the screws I believe, one of them didn't have a paper washer. The rest did, I put a paper washer on the one without and it atleast powered up.

I have not changed any settings with the motherboard. This is my first time actually installing it at all and trying to power up.

It says that, and the screen tries to turn on when I initially give it power from the power supply. But it goes back to blinking some where in between the power and the voice.

Have you tried removing the board as they ask to see if that works?
And reset the cmos , and checked if the power/reset button are connected properly?

I hope the board isnt damaged after shorting out :-(

Also did you check this part:

And although you didn't mention it, if you used any washers, remove them.

Also check that you don't have a mainboard standoff in the wrong place under the board.? Setting the standoffs in the right place can be a bit tricky.? You only want one standoff per mainboard mounting hole.?

The screw points on the board are important for proper grounding. You don't want any insulation there.

yes, I am about to look into the standoffs. The power and reset buttons appear to be connected properly.

The reset button does work.

I am going to check about the standoffs, I don't clearly remember any. I am going to work on the insulation as well
