Default [Answered] USB is Dead- HELP

OK, I won't go into detail as it is a common topic so I will just say SiS 7001 USB controller. I have tried all the things apart from flashing the BIOS which I can't fathom as every method I try just seems to be a waste of CDR's (I have a laptop so no floppy drive andpen drives are usless because of the USB problems).

So here is what I ask assistance on (just one of these would be great)

1. Any new surgestions on the SiS 7001 problem

2. How to Flash a BIOS as the method on the Uniwill website (my laptop manufacturer) seems flawed- it only works a little bit, does actually boot the program.

3. In some places I have read that its easiest to by-pass the onboard controller and get a PCI card, I have a laptop, could I use a PCIMIA (sorry if i got that wrong) USB card instead.

Thanks A lot for your assistance

Hi there mit1000 , welcome to PCHF.

I think you already saw this page and similair ones?

One of the options the offer is indeed to install a PCI / USB CARD.

Welcome to PC Help Forum.com.

Can you post a link to the bios flash site you are using...

You can use a PCMCIA usb hub but it would be nice to find a solution to the root problem first.
