Default [Answered] IDE CABLE CONNECTION

Hey guys, my motherboard has only 1 IDE connection. Its because its a 915 Board, thats just the way they are made, but its an awsome mobo. Anyways, i have ywo ide device, a cd-rw and a hard drive. I want to attach them on obviously the same channel, as i only have one. Now what i have done so far is attached the cd-rw to the end of the IDE cable, The third connector as the slave drive and the hard disk on the middle connector as the master drive and last but not least, the motherboard is connected to the connector that is on its own of the three on the IDE cable. Have i done it right, if you understand what i am saying that is. Thanks heaps if you really want to read this, Granto... :-D

Your motherboard has only 1 IDE connection but has 4 SATA connectors - clearly this board is designed to utilize the SATA technology rather that UDMA. I don't know what your spending power is like but with this board you would be far better buying a SATA hard drive and then using the IDE channel only for optical drives such as CD + DVD drives.

Your motherboard Spec
