Default [Answered] Anoying Beeping From Motherboard

All too often my motherboard beeps, somtimes a few times or for half a minute straight. It sounds like "High pitch, low pitch, high, low, high, low" and so on. It does this during games, virous scans, Spybot checks and many other apps. It does not do it to Winamp, Office XP, AutoCAd. I tried to disable the sound in regedit, but no go.
I run an Intell P3 750, 256 ram, Win XP with sevice pack 2. My chipset is an 810 on a American Megatrends Motherboard. I have checked for beep codes on the web, but only give info on codes after power-up. Any help would be great other than drilling a hole into the sound chip. Thanx

Welcome To Pc Help Forums?

those beeps mean somthing is going either right or wrong on your pc! Do you know what Bios you are using

Edit: Could be somthing monitoring somthing in the background as well. Have you tried going into your sound settings through windo's?

It could also be heat related, double check to make sure your temps are not running high. Also make sure all your fans are working 100%

Here is some info:
Agent Version 3.45
BIOS Date: 01/20/00
BIOS Type: American Megatrends
BIOS ID: 63-0316-119900-00101111-071595-WHITNEY-1AACC058
OEM Sign-On: 6WMM7 V2.0G
Chipset: Intel Whitney 82810 rev 3
Superio: Winbond 627F/HF rev 3 found at port 2Eh
OS: WinXP SP2
CPU: Pentium? III (0.18 ?m) With 256 KB On-Die L2 Cache 751 MHz
BIOS ROM In Socket: Unknown
BIOS ROM Size: Unknown
Memory Installed: 254 MB
Memory Maximum: Unknown

The fans all run great, I can't seem to get into the motherboard sounds through windows. There seems to be no conflicts with any drivers or hardware under device manager. I don't think heat is the issue as I've removed a side panel and used a large household fan directly on the board.
It sounds like a british police car when it beeps. ARRRRR. Maybe the motherboard is rejecting the P3 1Ghz Proccessor? It runs at only 750Mhz now.
Thanks for the replies.

I had an Abit motherboard NF7Ver2 that decided to beep at all times of the day and night and for no apparent reason. My PC was running like a dream so I just went into the bios and disabled the internal speaker - I'm not suggesting you do that by the way :knowing:

ok I will suggest you disable your onboard speaker! But download these 2 programs and run them to make sure it is not a heat problem or a memory problem

SpeedFan

Memory Test
