Default Strange Monitor Issue

Hello,

I currently have a Hanns G monitor that has been working fine for well over 3 years. Recently though it's being flashing a green light at me as soon as I power my PC on at the wall (I don't boot, I just flip the wall socket switch). It does this for about 30 minutes and then goes orange and says no signal input detected. The only way I can get my monitor to display anything is if I boot up and mash the F8 key. First it tells me Express Gate isn't installed (which is correct), it will then go off and I'll have to reboot. Ill try again and get the same thing. Third time I'll try I normally get the Express Gate warning and the splash sreen for my P5Q Pro. Four time I try I normally always get into Windows.

I mash the F8 key as it allows me to select the boot device which seems to keep my screen on as it's active. Although I don't think this is a forced sleep mode issue.

Another thing is lately my Windows install has been saying it needs to run the CHKDSK feature at launch. I've used the online test that comes with SpeedFan to compare my monitor to the same brand and I've used the Western Digitals diagnostic software, all seems okay.

I've tried my monitor on another PC and it works fine, another monitor also works fine for mine too. I'm completely and utterly confused as to what the cause of the problem is and hence I turn to you guys.

An interesting thing to note: When I get my monitor to display Windows I can then reboot from the start menu and my monitor has no problems at all. This only happens the first time I try to boot it.

System Specs:

Asus P5Q Pro
Intel Core2Duo E6600
ATI 4850 X2
2 x GB 800Mhz Crucial Ballistix
Win XP SP3 - 32 bit

Sorry for the wall of text and my thanks to anyone that has any sort of solution or suggestion.

Boot your computer up the correct way, and you should find the problem will go away...

What I meant by this is I flick the power switch on the wall socket. Just because I do this without instantly booting my PC up surely shouldn't create such a problem? Either way I have tried to boot instantly and still run into this brick wall.
