Default Monitor shuts off.

Hey guys, After searching the web for others with the same problem, i came up short.

I have a gateway LX6810.

The monitor is a 22" widescreen, HDMI, DVI, etc etc. I'm currently running it with DVI.

8GB RAM, NVidia GeForce 9800GT OC(the overclocked model you can get at Best Buy and what have you) Intel QuadCore Q8200 @2.33 GHZ

Vista Ultimate 64bit

The computer is less than 6 months old...

The problem is pretty unusual... Basically all that happens is that sometimes when the UAC(User Account Control) comes up, the monitor will shut itself off and display "no signal"

The computer will continue to run, however the mouse and keyboard seem to be unresponsive. To fix the problem I have to restart.
It ONLY does this when UAC comes up, about 1/3 of the time.

Help? Hehe. Thanks everyone.

Hello JordanWBTS and welcome to the PCHF

It sounds like the UAC is shutting down your monitor. Also since your computer is just 6months old would it not still be under warranty?

Thanks! Yeah the computer is still under warranty, i just prefer to fix problems myself, heh.

I just don't understand why it's happening occasionally rather than each time UAC comes up.

As a test:

Restart the PC
Press F5 repeatedly
Select Enable VGA Mode

Use the computer as normal and try to recreate a UAC message (shouldn't be too hard) - does the monitor still turn off?
