I have a notebook IBM Thinkpad T43, bought 5 years ago. Since yesterday I have a problem with LCD monitor. What is basically happening is related somehow to DC voltage only. When the notebook is powered, then the display is going dark, but it is still visible in the background active desktop. When I close the notebook and reopen it, then the monitor is again normally illuminated. However, under the running on the baterry only, there is no such event. Please help.

So under electric power - your screen dims but will return to normal if you close & reopen the lid?

But under battery power - the screen is fine? Or is it only dim?

Please answer the questions from DCiAdmin.

Check also if the switch (that turns the screen off when the lid is closed) is sticky.
It may not come up immediately when you open the lid, but opens on the second attempt.
