Default Connect PC to TV?

Hi, can anyone help? I would like to connect my PC to my TV so i can use my TV as a monitor. I have a Packard Bell IMEDIA x2415 (Windows Vista) Desktop PC, which only has a normal VGA port to connect to a monitor. My TV is a new 26" LCD Phillips26PFL5522D, this has two HDMI ports, two scart sockets (one of which can recieve RGB signals while the other can recieve S-video) a seperate round S-video port and the small red, green, blue, yellow and white ports (i think these are RCA HD ports, they connect my Xbox to the TV). Also the two ports which connect my mouse and keybord to my PC look like round S-video ports. Neither the PC or TV have DVI ports. The PC audio port is just the normal small round port for a 3.5mm wire. (there is also a 3.5mm port for headphones on the TV) Do I just need cables and adapters or full on TV cards and software etc. Thanks!

You should be able to buy a vga to rgb cable or vga to HDMi cable.

If you want to display the PC graphics (eg your desktop etc) on the TV then you will need something like this:

Sapphire HD 4350 256MB with 1GB HyperMemory DDR2 VGA DVI HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer

If however you want to record TV onto your computer then you will need a TV Tuner Card. A TV Tuner Card won't allow you to use the TV as your PC monitor.

Note that the graphics card outputs to VGA (your PC) and HDMI (your TV).

Note also that the card provides audio through HDMI. The problem with S-Video is that it is "Seperate" Video. If you did use that connection then you would need a second connection for the audio.

Audio through HDMI is the best option as it uses one cable for both video and audio and HDMI is a much better quality image than S-Video.

On this picture the PCI-E graphics card goes in the red coloured slot.

By the way, found online TV manual. It says it can be used as a PC monitor and it supports Computer resolutions, but not VGA i think. http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/2/26pfl5522d_05/26pfl5522d_05_dfu_eng.pdf
