Unhappy Installing Replacement Laptop Screen

I bought a replacement screen for my hp dv2915 laptop and I'm having trouble installing it. First my dad tried a few times (big mistake), and it didn't work, so now I don't know if he did something to break the new one or if there was already a problem with the screen. I plugged in both cords in the back of the display panel, but when I turn my computer on the screen stays black. Most likely I missed a step, but I've gone over a lot of tutorials and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I heard Best Buy installs them for a 50 dollar labor fee, should I just take it there?

Hi Shabail and welcome to PCHF!

I would recommend going to Best Buy or any computer parts listing in your area and having it professionally done.

Try rebooting and shining a flashlight on to the display at the same time and see if you can see anything. You say you and your dad both messed with it so maybe one of you accidentally broke the backlight.
