Hi pal,I am having a problem with my CRT monitor (LG 15"). When I start my computer it will be OK for 1 to 2 hours or so, then it start to fickle a little on the screen, later it will shrink the screen size to almost half (it show the full desktop but shrink to a smaller size with a black screen on both side of the screen. I wish to know whether the CRT is going to fail soon or other causes it maybe. My OS.XP Pro. SP3. P4. Thanks.

It's a sign that the crt's tube is going to die soon.
You can get 17' LCD monitors pretty cheap now, so it may pay you look around and get one...

it's is more than likely the monitor like Arctos said it is. But it may be worth trying another monitor just to be 100% certain it's not the graphics card playing up they can do some very strange stuff if faulty. It would not be related to the O/S by the sound of it but hardware failure

Thanks Arctos and madmatt2006 I too suspect is the CRT. I do not have any graphic card install, only the intergrated type. I actually wanted to try and see actually which is the fault but I could not get a spare CRT to try out.

Thanks Crush actually I still have the same problem as I am sending this reply. One thing is that once in a blue mood it will be OK for the whole day and at times it will have the same problem. I remember when I was using a video converter and it could not render the display and it mentioned something regarding video driver. Just yesterday I scan with a utility and it say I am having conflicting devices, the list: Input/output range 0380-0388 used by. SIS processor to AGP Controller. Input/Output range 03CO-03DF used by. SIS Processur to AGP Controller, Memory Range 000A0000-0008FFFF used by ...I did not read all of it. Can this be the problem. I do hope it shed some light.

To be honest, I have never heard of such an error. Let's see if the other techs have anything for you. In the meantime I will do some research to see if I can find the answer for you
