Pending: Pink/Red laptop screen

Firstly I am very unlikely to be able to help anyone with their problems because I am totally PC tech illiterate so I would be extremely grateful if anyone could help me.

My Phillips laptop screen has gone haywire, you can see the icons but the screen is pink/red streaky so you can’t read anything.

The PC appears ok when attached to another external screen so we purchased a replacement screen for the laptop, however that showed the same traits as the original. What could be between the screen and the PC hardware that would affect the screen in this way? Any ideas please?

Welcome to the PCHF

Check your connections between the laptop and the screen. It could be the cable running inside your laptop that connects the onboard video and your screen could be the problem,since it seems to work with a external screen,but i will open this thread so our excellent Tech staff and or members can address your problem.............thanks for your patience

The externalmonitor working tells us that the VGA catd inside the notebook is working fine. So, agreeing with Vger, it must be the connection between the VGA card and the new screen. Check both ends of that cable if you can.

Sometimes there is a function key to switch between laptop and external screen. Ensure this is correctly set.

I am having the same problem. i have replace laptop screen and the inverter and the appearance and the hook up to an external display is clear i have also changed the video cable ( the one that connects the lcd to the mother board0 what else could it be?
