Could you try the monitor on another PC before you buy a graphics card? Just to see if the problem reoccurs. Preferably a PC with a graphics card as opposed to online graphics. Although any other PC would give useful results.
You may also want to read the monitor box and/or manual and see if it mentions minimum requirements. For example, it might require a certain type or brand of video card with a certain amount of built in memory. It would just help verify that the problem is your graphics card and not the monitor. Although I'm quite sure its the onboard graphics.
