Default PC comes on, but monitor remains black
so, i got my grandma's old (fairly new) Compaq Presario SR1803WM, no cords, so i hooked it up with my old IBM 300PL cords. The PC boots up just fine but when i turn on the monitor it just goes to power saving mode and remains dark

well.. the monitor works.. i'm using it on my old PC right now, it just won't work on the new one

Does the pc beep on boot?.

If not it could be a PSU problem.

Please confirm there is only one VGA socket on the Compaq Presario SR1803WM.
