Red face PC can not detect monitor?

Hiya,

I'm new to this forum, hopefully can find the help that I need!

I have a home built pc which I been using around for 4 years...and the problem I have is that I am able to turn on the pc, but there is no display from the monitor at all!

The monitor light remains flashing - which is standby or it kind of means that it can not detect the pc to me?!
I tried connecting to other monitors at home but the same thing happens.

I don't know where the problem is..anyone help?

Theres nothing showing on display at all so i'm not 100% sure if it has actually logged into windows or not!

Also, usually when I start up my pc, there would be a single beep after a few secs from turning it on, but since this has happened, theres no beep too! =(

Many thanks for the help!!
Olivia.

Hi --welcome to PCHF.
If you have tried several monitors...then I would suggest that the video adapter has bit the dust. If it is a separate card-- you can replace it-- if it's built-into the Motherboard-- it gets more complicated...

Video adapters can be built-into the mobo,
OR
They can be a separate card (circuit-board) that plugs into a slot ON the motherboard-- so you can change it if you want to upgrade-- or if it breaks.

Most modern motherboards have halfway-decent video adapters built in... though they rarely approach the power/performance of an add-in card.
Some Gaming PC's for enthusiasts have capabilities to use
two or even FOUR video cards for ultra-fast game-play... but this is a very expensive hobby

A typical basic Video card is pictured here:

Hello,ih8bills said if your graphics is built onto your mainboard then you would need to buy a PCI slot graphics card as the graphics card you are using or trying to use is broken.

It makes no diffrence if your graphics are built onto your mainboard or are a seprate PCI card it needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps?

JB.

EDIT: Sorry ih8bills did not see you there.
