Hi olav,

It sounds like either your monitor or graphics are faulty.

Do you get a message on the monitor saying no signal or is it just blank? If it's just blank then the it's likely the monitor. If you can borrow a monitor from a friend to double check. If it still doesn't work with another monitor then it's your graphics that are the problem.

Please post back the exact model of your hp pavilion.

It's completly blank, no action at all. the computer type is
HP Pavilion dv9312eu Notebook PC

when I start the computer it also makes three loud bip noises, on long and to short.

Hi Olav

If you do manage to get a monitor to connect to your laptop (as per DIIRE's comment) and you find that it works you might want to try updating the BIOS to the latest version which is F.40 Released on 2008-08-08.

You can get the BIOS download from HP's website (assuming you're running Windows):

WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS (for Notebooks with AMDProcessors) - Microsoft Windows/Vista-Based

To be absolutely sure you're getting the right version make sure the model number is correct before downloading and installing the update.

One other thing to confirm is the screen blank all the time from powering up the laptop? Do you for example see the HP logo then it goes blank? If you do it's worth knowing if what OS you're running XP/Vista etc...

Hey Guys,

@Olav,
My personal welcome to PCHF. Please only post your situation in one forum, not in three. It makes it impossible for our staff to know who is already getting help.

I am deleting your other two posts, and will be moving this one to the correct forum, Monitors.

Good luck with your laptop, I know you are in good hands.

TTFN

1 Long 2 Short beeps generally indicates graphics problem.

You will need to send your laptop to HP to be repaired. If it is still under warranty they will not charge you.
