First off, new here, so if this is in the wrong section, I apologize and hope someone moves it accordingly.
I am having problems viewing my HP Slimline PC (model s3430f) on my new 32 inch sony bravia LCD tv (model KDL-32L4000)(720P, just for reference) with my hdmi cable .
Previously, I had the same PC with same hdmi cable hooked up to a 37 inch HP television (also 720P) and it worked fine. I have tried putting it in the other hdmi port (that I know works since the xbox is hooked up through it) and also tried different cables.
When it first boots up, you can see the boot screen with the hp logo and you can also hit f10 for setup menu, and it displays that fine. But once it gets to the point to boot past this initial boot up screen, it is just blank. The screen DOES NOT say "no signal", like it would if there was nothing connected to that port. So it is connected and sending out some sort of signal, but as I just said, nothing past the hp boot screen.
Any suggestions on whats wrong or what to help me?
Let me know if there is other information needed to help me, my knowledge is pretty limited with technical issues of hdtvs and pcs and such. Thank you for your time.
As I was typing this up, I hit diagnostics on the boot menu. Then reads on the screen" "This product requires the Video BIOS supports 1024x768 32-bit mode or 1024x768 8-bit color mode. Future versions of this product will support other resolutions."
So this is a resolution problem, and how do I go about fixing this problem? The PC has hdmi out and dvi out. I do not have any other monitors, like crt or otherwise to hook it up to, will this be a problem in going to change the resolution?
