Default Monitor purchasing guide

can I get some feedback on criteria's for a good monitor? Such as what brands are good. and also, the prices seem to increase steadily between 19 inch till 24 inch. so I'm a little confused about what to choose, pick 20 inch and it seems jsut a little cheaper than 21 only, but then 21 inch is jsut a little cheaper than 22...........its hard to decide a cut off point.

Hi,not sure of prices were you live.

Do not buy AOC.

I find my dual 19 inch Dell widescreens are good.

I would go for a good brand like Samsung,Phillips,Sony.

Aslo are you thinking VGA or DVI?

I'm guessing DVI's the new thing these days aren't they? but yea I was told actually DVI doesn't really differ that much from VGA anyways. but don't most monitors come with both inputs? Well anyways I guess I'll go with DVI since more graphic cards now are made with DVI ports also.
some of the other brands sold at my area are ASUS, Acer,Benq, Fujitsu,LG. I'm not expecting you to give suggestion for any particular brand, but maybe tell me if any of these brands are no good?

I have not heard on benq, but the other brands you choose seem to be fine.

Not all flatscreens come with VGA and DVI.You would have to check this out before buying.I have one monitor VGA and one DVI and I do see a diffrence although not a big one in the screens.

Are you considering buying online or your local area?

I was curious thats all as some times you can save cash by buying online or save cash buying at a local store due to a sale price.

i have 2 benq's. They're fine, however the LG Flatron's (i also have one of those) have a better warranty.

The real decision you have to make is how much you want to spend, then you can look at the quality, size, warranty, etc within your budget. Have a look at this site, they are based in Victoria and will ship anywhere in Australia.
