Default Default monitor problem

hey guys, i have recently formatted my hard drive and installed a fresh copy of windows xp SP2 on it.

The problem is, the system does not recognize my monitor as it usually did. It's an AOC 5e 15" CRT monitor and should display as plug and play or AOC 5e in the device manager and settings for the display properties.

I have downloaded some drivers for the AOC 5e but it is not identified by the system.

Please help. Thank you

yes, it's actually running fine... except for that default monitor problem...

I have updated my graphics card drivers and still no luck...

I cannot play warcraft 3 on resolutions higher than 800x600 and it's annoying.

I have tried downloading drivers for my monitor but still no luck. It's an AOC 5e 15" monitor.

Ahhhh an AOC 5E CRT monitor.

Ok have you set this monitor in windows display settings?

Then do you have such a thing as another control panel installed,it usaly included with driver downloads form the GPU make and models website.

As NVIDIA/ATI both have there own downloadable control panels. You must use the advanced options.

Athough ATI Catalyst I find is a seprate download.

Did you use device manager to try and instll the drivers?

yes, everything is installed, drivers, nvidia control panel.. I have a geforce 7300GT AGP.

It only detects my monitor as default monitor

It used to work perfectly before I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows.

Is plug and play enabled in BIOS?

Go into display properties ( right clicking desktop), settings, advanced, monitors, and select "change". Change "default" monitor to your monitor

In device manager try an uninstall of the monitor driver and reboot.

Are you using only one single monitor?
