Default Interesting!!

I'm using a SyncMaster 170n monitor and what it's doing is not showing. It has power to it cuz I see the power light green, it'll flicker a display and go away. I've tried it on two different computers where both of the computer's video port works. I have it connected to my laptop right now as an extended screen and it did the same thing, flicker showing a little display and it went away. I know y'all would say get another monitor but I really would like to know what I could do to fix it?

There's a dedicated power switch on the back and if I turn it off and turn it back on, it'll flicker a display and go off.

The only thing I can suggest is to try to reset the color/resolution to factory settings.

How To Reset Your Monitor To The Factory Presets. SAMSUNG

if this does not work-- it's toast. You have already tried everything else.

I can't see the monitor to even begin to reset the monitor to factory specs.

Monitors are quite delicate stuff.
The backlight on an LCD will often contain
Mercury-vapor. Toxic stuff. Why you must pay to dispose of these parts when they do fail.
CRT's are very high-voltage and have capacitors that can kill you.
I cannot recommend this as a "do it yourself" project... and live with my conscience.

I did find a business that repairs them--I have never used them-- so I can't personally recommend them...

DIIRE agrees: Yep - I'd never attempt to fix a CRT
