Default Black Screen/ Backlight Broken?

I noticed yesterday and today my monitor is constantly going to a black screen and i kinda see a message in the darkness/blackness-it's kinda burned out? But it is not there when i turn my monitor back on-everything is normal) I'll be typing this right now-and my monitor turns off. Why is this? Can anyone help me-thanks.

Although the monitor light is still on green when it does this...but the screen goes black like it does when it is turned off....

The only way I can fix this is turning the monitor on and off-but it keeps happening

Edit: The message I see isn't a message-it is this site so it seems my back light isn't working?

Hello JM.

Have you tested this monitor on another computer to see if the same thing happens? If testing the monitor on another computer and this problem does not arise then it is your graphics card not the monitor. If it does occure on another computer then proberly monitor is on its way out.

Could you test the monitor on another computer?
Try a diffrent monitor cable?
Make sure cable is firmly connected?

I can't test this on a different computer, do not have another to try it on. Also check my post again I edited it-I think it is the back light now?

Yes it could be the back light.
Does this occur if you reboot into safe mode or last known good config?
Have you tried changing settings such as resolution?

I am not sure-haven't tried going into safe mode yet. Although I am pretty sure it is the back light now. When it turns off-I scroll my mouse up and down and see this site (it's really dark though, obviously-barley can see) but I see something moving up and down.

How do I replace a back light?

EDIT: I lowered the back light from under 100 to 1 (lowest it can go)

This is a SONY monitor by the way-not exactly sure on what model.

Well it depends on make and model of your screen. If it is CRT they are so cheap to buy I would just buy a second hand one.If it is LCD then I suppose worth trying to replace the backlight.

I would not attempt this unless you knew exactly what you were doing.
I would test the monitor were possible first on another computer or laptop.

I have never replaced a backlight before so i am not sure how it is done.
