my main pc monitor just went black yesterday afternoon when using it... just, went off! no green light, nothing. so my husband tried to change the fuse but couldn't find the right watt - so left it. this morning i find the green light is on! and goes off when i click the power button. BUT the screen is still black! the pc is on & i can hear it's 'doing something' but nothing is showing on the monitor. i've triple checked all the connections, all seems a-ok.

so what could it be?! i'm absolutely gutted at the moment as the pc is my main computer and has my life on it. i have job applications on there that i need to send out & everything!

No need to panic, if your screen is blank and your PC is working, then it's likely that your PC is fine, at the very least all of your data.

The problem is most likely with the monitor itself, cable between the PC and the monitor or the graphics card in the PC. Most likely the monitor I would say by your description, maybe the backlight, but it's a pointless excercise trying to fix a faulty monitor, will cost you as much to fix as it would to replace!

Can/have you tried using a different monitor to test with?
