Default Monitor decided not work -.-

ok basically my gf's comp just died last night so we phoned up her mums partner becoz his work involves fixing computers an such.
he told us that the harddrive was infected so we plugged her hardrive into my motherboard and cleaned it, then when we plugged the harddrive back into her computer the monitor says "no signal" so we thought it was something we did, phoning back our guy, he told us to "try unplugging the video card and plugging it back otherwise theres not much we can do"
i was just wondering weather or not u guys can give any sort of other solution to something that wud otherwise mean we have to buy a new comp for my gf

Hey Dread ,

I had a problem like this.

Try plugging the monitor into the Motherboard RGB, and if that doesen't work try putting it into the Video card RGB if it has one.

If that doesen't work, take the video card out, then put it back in.

Not at all. It's not inside the PC, it's the socket the Monitor plugs into.

well last night, her comp crashed and her screen froze, so she restarted her computer and it wouldnt go past the windows xp load screen so we phoned up the guy i sed and he told us to unplug the hard drive from her computer plug it into mine.
then we went My computer > Local disc drive(F > properties > error-checking.

so after the few hours it took to error check we plug her hd bk into her computer now her monitor wont work what so ever. just "no signal", we plugged my monitor into her computer mine doesnt work in her comp either, hope thats detail enough :P
